Classic car event 2007

As there is no classic Le Mans next year, and the car is running so well, I am looking to organise a trip in 2007 to another classic car meeting. I am open to suggestions, it could be France etc or even Skandanavia.
Do any of you guys from outside the UK have any ideas? ( I don't think I can run to the USA as much as I would like to!).

Why not give the "Jim Clark Festival" at Hockenheim a go.
End of April I think, but check it out on the web.

I will also miss Le Mans next year Have been to the last two events I can see why it takes two years to organise.
How about Sweeden http://www.fcss.nu/
or Circuit des Remparts, Angouleme
or Historic Monaco & Pau Historique
or Mille Miglia
or Goodwood revival
I would certainly be keen to join a Lotus tour to a classic event in europe. I have been to a number of events with the Grand Touring Club http://tours.grandtouringclub.com/ who arrange all tickets, accommodation etc. I am sure we would get a deal if we booked as a group and I know one of the directors

If you fancy going to Sweden, there is a great event over the week-end 15-17 June next year called "Velodromloppet". It is held on the Karlskoga Racetrac ( abt. 350 kms from Gothenburg) where all the F1 stars raced in the -60s, and is a combined Histroric Racing / Rally / fair - event. The number of race-cars are in the 120- 130 region, and competitors are mainly from Sweden and Norway. Usually 5 - 7 Elans, and they are fast (!!) .
There is no website specifically for the event, but you can see some "past-pix" on http://www.rhkswe.org. ( Check under "Artiklar" )
Would be nice with som visitors from overseas...... (!)

Why not Spa? There are two meetings. One in May called RMU classic and one in September called Spa 6 hours. For sure not as prestigious as Le Mans Classic but less crowded, much cheaper, much better track than Le Mans (except if they continue destroying it for F1) and plenty of cars.

Mmmm.
Always fancied Spa. Ever since the black & white images of Cobras and Lola T70s in the late 60s/early 70s in Motorsport.

Certainly some great suggestions. I like the idea of Spa, I have trackdayed there twice and watched a 1000k le Mans series race. Great atmosphere and superb track. ( I am not very keen on the belgium police and their attitude to speeding however!) Sweden is a nice idea, a bit different from the usual trips, I havn't been there since 1966 and have always promised myself a return trip.
I will do some research on costs etc. At least it will give me something to look forward to over the winter.

Chris,
I can recommend the Falsterbo Classic in Sweden as mentioned by steveww (fcss) a small group of us drove there in 2005 - made v welcome - the web site has an english version and a film of the event.
If you come up with anything for end of June early July it would be interesting to hear as our little band of ageing teenagers are looking for an event for 2007 as well.
Cheers,
Ian

Ian,
I've looked at the Falsterbo website and was much impressed. However looking at the journey it looks to be quite serious from Lincolnshire. I looked at the early Spa event but because of all the work being done (ruining Spa!) in the name of the diminutive god ecclestone it looks like Spa is going to be out of action until after the grand prix. So, I am still looking. My brother, who I will be going with, is based in surrey so the start will either be lincs or surrey. I also have to fit the trip in with 24heure du Mans and the french grand prix. The trouble with the event season is they all come at the same time. If only we had unlimited money and holiday!

May be the trip does not have to be to a racing event? How about a blatt in northern France on great quiet D roads? We could visit the old circuit at Reims and their is a small circuit at Croix-en-Ternois where we might be able to do a track day.

I think that the HSCC have one of their series events there (they certainly did this year) try their website for dates- might be posted by now.
Cheers,
Pete.
