No Club Lotus Autojumble this year!

PostPost by: tdafforn » Mon Sep 08, 2008 12:15 pm

Hi Guys,
Quick heads up..
there is not going to be a Club Lotus Autojumble in Stoneleigh this year.
Bit of shame as it was the mark of the begining of my winter autojumble/show season

Sadley it was getting worse every year.

I think Club Lotus said it was because the venue was getting dearer so they had to charge more for the pitches, so we were getting all sorts of weird not Lotus stallholders.

Hopefully everyone will concentrate on Donnington and it will be the business. I would rather have one great jumble than 2 mediocre.

I just don't agree, every year I went I got some very good parts at good prices.

Also it was nice to see friends there and the indoor parking was great

I will miss this event :(

I too will miss this event. Stoneleigh briefly fanned the dying embers of Lotus fever back to their summertime blaze before the blanket of salt was drawn over the roads and our cars settled down for their big sleep.

Like Matt I too will miss the indoor parking and meeting of Lotus friends.

Oh dear.

Having arrived back home last weekend, after four & a half months at sea(a.k.a. the "Summer") , I was dissappointed to hear about the cancellation of Stoneleigh. I had been looking forward to it, especially after my disappointment with Donnington earlier this year.

Does anyone have any suggestions for Lotus events in the next four months that might satiate my addiction?

But now there is only one auto jumble this year it should mean that the big boys will make the extra effort to be there and Donnington will be better than ever.

It is cold outside but it is only once a year :)

There seems to be some doubt over Donnington now, as the site is being re-developed for the F1 circus. Apparently Stoneleigh was cancelled due to the lack of heating.

Whatever happened to global warming??

Hi

The National Restoration Show 2008 is on 26 Oct 2008, maybe they are made of stearner stuff :D

I have been to this event before and it was pretty good, twice as may stalls as the Lotus event. I think it was mostly MG + Triumph auto jumble, if you need your Stoneleigh fix I would recommend this.

From what I understand about the re-development of Donnington, all events during the season will be unaffected. I'd imagine this means from Easter onwards. On track events - winter series etc - will be affected when they add the extra track.

I have also heard the the Donnington collection will be moving to a new home. Maybe as this is privately owned by Tom Wheatcroft? I doubt this will affect the exhibition centre though....
