I noticed that too. I might have been at that race: I was a paddock worker at New England races in those days.
Five years later, I crewed for an Elan that made the SCCA run-offs at Atlanta. We finished ahead of Newman - well, technically not, because his Datsun had a problem on the pace lap and didn't actually start the race. He might well have won another national championship otherwise.

Just a few comments on Paul.s passing.I had an opportuinty to meet Paul several times at Watkins Glenn race track and can tell you he was as he appeared. One time my wife was with me and I asked her if she would like to meet Paul Neuman in person..she about fell over. He took the time to say hello and was very gracious.We spoke for several minutes and he gave us his full attention...I will never forget that....what a model for todays stars !!...he will be missed
