Lotus and washing machines

Hi everybody,
After 30 years of Lotus ownership,I suppose that I shouldn't be surprised at anything but...... one of the window switches on my Europa Special needed replacement. When I phoned Banks Engineering they were very helpful and, although the originals are no longer obtainable, they supplied a newly sourced part which is very similar to the original.
But.....in conversation it emerged that the original switches were fitted to washing machines!!!I believe it ,particularly as the original switches have 240/250V,10A printed on them.
Wonder whether you could get a self cleaning/spin dry variant?......
Just posted for amusement-wonder if the idea came from Mrs C's utility room?

For obvious reasons, Chapman did not utilize the spin switch for the cars.
