What a great story, and some superb footage. At the age of 19 having a GTO to play with, I wonder how he beat that experience in later years!
I pity the poor sod who traded his GTO for the Maserati Ghibli though.

Ha! I thought I had it good running around in my Elan when I was 19. Oh well.
I gather that the Elan gets overshadowed by a passing Ferrari on the road. Great footage, though.

I really enjoyed that. It brought back vivid memories of Willow Springs, Mullhuland drive, Riverside Raceway, Orange Count Raceway, etc. back in the day. Back in those days I would have been driving my Sunbeam Tiger to those places, and dreaming of buying an Elan.

I'm waiting for someone to shout "Hey that was me in the Elan"!
The names of those places take me back to when I was a jobbing photog/reviewer on a weekly "alternative music paper" in the UK.
One day I'll get to Laurel Canyon.....

Spotted in Ashton under Lyne today; a red over white Sprint.
Not quite Hollywood but hey, how often do you see an Elan in everyday traffic these days? Anyone on here?

It's hard to tell... the car on the left looks quite Plus-2-ish to me.
