John Miles Has Died

PostPost by: trw99 » Mon Apr 09, 2018 5:17 pm

That wonderful engineer, driver, jazz fanatic and gentleman John Miles has sadly and rather suddenly died.

Apparently he had a small stroke a few days ago but reacted badly to the medication, then went into a coma and finally succumbed. Very sad.

John Miles was best known in Elan circles for his devastatingly successful 1966 season, winning the Autosport Championship by having 15 wins from 17 starts in his self-prepared Willment Racing 26R.

RIP Sir.

RIP indeed, a great loss who remained involved with Lotus for many years after his racing success.

IIRC he also worked with GAZ to help them develop dampers for Lotus models.

Apart from his tech and driving skills, he was a very personable gent.
