They've come way down in price from the looks of things. 20+ yrs ago when I had a number of HP black/white laser printers they were around ?350 from memory with toner cartridges around ?60. Colour ones were around four figures. Pity I no longer need that sort of stuff any more.

Printers, both ink-jet and laser, seem to be sold with a nil or very small margin over manufacturing costs and the supplier expects to get his/her real profit from the sale of consumables: ink or toner cartridges. Comparisons to prices that existed before they started doing this are somewhar meaningless.

I have just bought a full set (4) high-capacity cartridges for my Samsung CLP-680ND and they cost more than the whole printer did a year ago. At 6000 pages black & 3,500 pages colour they will probably last so long that as with my previous printer it was less expensive to buy the Samsumg 680 than to buy drum and belt for my previous colour printer.

PS anybody want to buy a full set of toners, for a Samsung CLP510, going cheap.

Correct! A full set of toners are ?300 +.

The starters on this should last me a year or so then I just get a new printer.

Sad but whilst they charge such ridiculous prices for simple toner cartridges ????

Anyone know how go get WIndows **** 10 to recognise an old HP 1010. Best simple black laser I've had.

Look on the HP website for a driver.

Often a Windows 7 or even Vista driver will work on Windows 10

I've tried with a Vista 64 driver without success. Also a number of tutorials on UTube.
Problem is I also do not seem to have a DOT4 port??? Or the HP Laserjet device they mention.

Way past my knowledge level.
