Dear All
It's cold and damp outside , so forget the garage for one evening , Friday 18th , Channel 14 , More4 , 18:55 Car SOS , 1970's Lotus Elan....

Probably a repeat but what the heck...

I think that's the one where the seller gets diddled into selling his Elan to the SOS team for a rock bottom price. I didn't like that. Jim

Those of a nervous disposition look away when Fuzz gets to work with a 10 ton press on the rear strut.

Jime I think that was the one with Mike Brewer 'wheeler dealer' not car sos. This was has been shown many times if its the one with his wife sat in the car while it is on the ramp.

I didn?t realise SOS had done an Elan. That?s any chance I have of getting mine fixed on the cheap gone then

Fuzz Townshend, the mechanic on the show, has now got his name attached to my local oil supplier, Classic Oils. They moved up to the Bicester Heritage site a while back and are now part of the one stop classic shop that the site is becoming. Whether they?ll have ?meet Fuzz and get 10% off? promotional days remains to be seen but I hope his involvement doesn?t change the nature of the business. They?ve been great as a source of cheap two stroke oil for my old smokers as well as oil for the Elan.

Too much brute force and ignorance all round on the hub and strut.
At least he didn't damage the hub with heat and hammering!

Fuzz is usually quite careful, so I suspect this action was deliberate show for TV. It probably needed replacing anyway for other reasons.

I seem to remember that the owner is/was a member of this forum and that he did say it took a lot longer than the TV timescale.

You're probably right - it makes for good tv.
They bought a new tube as well which may indicate problems there as well.

Argh! They used a 3 legged puller of the rear hub!

That said, I sure wish someone would come and sort my Plus 2 out...
