Fuzz Townshend, the mechanic on the show, has now got his name attached to my local oil supplier, Classic Oils. They moved up to the Bicester Heritage site a while back and are now part of the one stop classic shop that the site is becoming. Whether they?ll have ?meet Fuzz and get 10% off? promotional days remains to be seen but I hope his involvement doesn?t change the nature of the business. They?ve been great as a source of cheap two stroke oil for my old smokers as well as oil for the Elan.

Fuzz was on the stand selling Miller Oils at the Sunday Scramble at Bicester Heritage last week. Not sure about a promo discount though.....

I saw Ed China strolling about too.

So, watching on the big screen it's obviously that breaking the casting was deliberate!
The outer circlip was still in place when they were pressing the stub axle out.

So presumably a TV stunt.

It certainly looked good when they'd finished and I'm not surprised it took longer than they suggested in the show.

Why? What possible advantage does it give to the show to imply the chief mechanic is a clumsy bodger?

It would be interesting to see the car in a years time!

The doddering old bugger read the manual and said " remove the circlip and push it out " should have said remove the circlipS and push it out...

( Inner circlip )

As I said to my wife as we were watching it! I also said when they were buying the strut in Matty's- "they don't need that bit!", so deffo a bit of licence for TV drama.

Apart from all the messing about I rather enjoyed the programme. :D

How many times have you removed and refitted the tube?

Good point Cleggie, I've only done it twice, both occasions with lots of time and penetrating oil available! 8)
