Newbie fom Kent

Hi,
I'm Colin from Kent, about to go and collect a +2 bodyshell tomorrow and so begins the start of yet another automotive project.

I've wanted a tax exempt GRP bodied car for a while and always had a soft spot for the Elan so when the body came up on an Ebay barn finds site I popped a bid in and ended up winning. Sight unseen of course

I'm in no hurry to get it together as I have a fairly long project queue already including a couple of old Land Rovers and recently a rotten 1975 VW T2 Bay van which will be restored for my other half. At least the welder will have a day off with the Elan.

I'm learning from scratch with the Elan so I'll try not to be too much of a pest with dumb questions and I will promise to search through old posts.

Unlikely to go with the Lotus Twin Cam, at the moment a Zetec seems favourite as I won't be keeping this one slavishly original. I won't muck it up for the future so anything that is done will be undo-able I hope.

Hi and welcome. Everything you need to kow can be answered here and is probably already in the archives somewhere. Good luck with the restoration and show us some pictures when you get the car
