Hello,

I came across two +2's from '73 the other day. Turned they have been sitting in that barn since 1988. Fell in love at first sight and bought them on the spot.

No. 1 Was repainted brown and has a vinyl roof. It crashed into a bush in 1988 which left cracks and bruises all over the body. On the upside under the brown it shows black paint and under the vinyl there is gold flake. The TwinCam was replaced with what seems to be a 1600ccm Ford Kent Crossflow engine with a Holbay head. The only thing missing on this car are side trim and the exhaust.

No.2 is a LHD without motor and transmission. It was bought as a replacement body for the No.1 Elan. Repainted in gold the original paint seems to be Brown with silver roof.

My plan is to restore the No.2 with the Kent / Holbay motor and then sell it off to make some money to buy a TwinCam and restore the No.1 possible JPS for myself.

Since this is my first restoration (apart for some vintage Vespas) I will have lots of questions and require a lot of your advise. So thank you all in advance.

I will keep you updated on my progress.

Any thoughts so far?

Cheers,
Alex

Good find Alex. welcome and well done.

If you do think you have a JPS Plus 2 there, let me know the VIN and I'll be able to give you an indication if it is genuine.

Tim

Love the 'Schmitt!

I had an untouched JPS a few years back and took some detailed photos of the under-bonnet area if you need any clues.

Welcome!
Mark
