Hey guys,

Not an Elan owner here, but an Mk1 escort owner getting ready to fit a fast genuine webber twincam head using a 711M block.

I already found very useful advises searching in this forum.

thanks

Almost everything worthwhile has a cost attached, but if you do as much of the work yourself as possible the cost is not to bad

Nice sounding project.

I bought a complete low mileage dry sumped Lotus tall block engine and gearbox from a crashed late 70's Caterham a few years ago with the intention of putting it into an Escort and making a TC 'replicar'

Still looking for a suitable donor but Escort prices appear to have gone crazy!

Try Dave Paveley at Groupbmotorsport in Deeside. I visited yesterday, and although deeply involved in Honda, Toyota and Subaru rally cars, he seems to have an encyclopaedic knowledge of the worldwide location of Escort shells.

Thanks Malcolm - will look this up.

Just noticed Chrisis' location so he's lucky and has a head start!
