Although I already asked several times for the support of the group, I have not introduced myself. After looking for ?my? Elan for 2 years, I have finally bought an 67 LHD DHC S3 SE this summer. Finding a decent vehicle was difficult, as they are pretty rare in Germany, overpriced and most examples were converted to Wannabe racers (no offence) thus not original. Furthermore I was looking for an LHD DHC S1- 3 series car only. Without success in Europe, I did the decent move and bought one on the internet from Canada on the basis of some pictures only! Desperate, hmm, propably yes, Sir....
However, the result is surprisingly good, no big hickups so far (fuelpump, vaccum pods, electrics only). From an elderly long term owner, Emma Peel coloured, it is well used and has been refurbished to the original specs some 20 years ago, so no need to be shy of driving it. My daughters love it too! It shares the garage with my Volvo P1800 S, that I own for 31 years now.

Nice car and welcome, Phil.

The P1800 holds the record for the highest mileage of a known car, if I remember correctly. Good old Swedes!

I have to correct my friend Tim, that's not a nice car, that's a beautiful car. Tim wears Sprint coloured spectacles.

Thank you for your welcome! The Volvo and the Lotus make an interesting pair: Both from the same period (68& 67), very similar priced in time, they are very different, but both were in the market for buyers that wanted something different. The Volvo almost having Mercedes ( Pagoda) like qualities and details, while the Lotus has a very minimalist design, very much like a Porsche 911 of the time.

I believe the early bodies where made by Jenson before being taken over by Volvo because of quality issues.
