Just got a 1971 Elan plus 2 S/130 so wanted to introduce myself and see if there are any other owners of these cars in my area

The North Yoerkshire Lotus Owners Club (NYLOC) meet on the fourth Tuesday of the month at the Buckles Inn on the A64 just a bit South West of York. Most NYLOC members own something from the Elise range. However during the summer months you can expect the occasional Plus 2 Elan.

Welcome, Davieroy. There are four other forum members from NY that I have noted, though I won't name them, but most of them have posted little. Three of them had a +2 of some sort.
I had a S130/5 for four years or so, back in tthe 1980s, and it was terrific/terrifying to drive and a nightmare to maintain! But they should have settled down by now so enjoy it before tearing it apart, if you can. I look forward to hearing of your progress (and seeing pictures; tricky to post but just ask).

My regional club over here is mostly Elise-guys too, so I love being one of those oddball vintage guys- especially since I can't afford the more recent models!
