New member - new project

Hi everyone, new to this forum but not Lotus ownership. My first introduction to a lotus was when my father bought a brand new S130/5 in 1973, I was just a teenager and up until then had little interest in cars. Four years later I found myself the owner of a 1971 Elan +2S130/4 (was still a modern car at this time of course) the insurance was crippling as I had only been driving a couple of years. I think I had it about 18 months then life got in the way. In between then and now I have owned many different Loti, however my heart has always been with the Elan and Plus 2. Best way to describe my situation now is I'm semi retired and have more time to play. Hence I have just bought a new project which I intend to take my time with. Its a 1972 S130/4 and needs total restoration, terrible paint, rotten chassis and has not run for 30 years. It is however complete and original. Should take me into old age quite comfortably. I'm in North Wales, about 15 minutes from Chester.

Welcome Howard. Are you experienced in restoring cars already, or are you learning on the fly?

Thanks everyone, I will try and get some photos sorted. I have no professional qualifications in this area, but have gained enough knowledge over the years to strip and rebuild, although like most people have to farm out specialist work like gearbox and diff rebuilds. Oh and I have never used a spray gun although happy to prep bodywork.
