The reason it was abandoned by the fence at the side instead of in the main Lotus parking area is that I'd tried to stretch the fuel so I could refill after visiting the show. It coughed and spluttered to a halt just as I reached the front of the exhibition building and had to be pushed the last 10 yards!

If the kind gentleman who gave me a lift down to Donington Services in his Zetec Plus 2 for petrol is on the forum, thanks again!
