Some pics of the Castle Coombe meet. Check out the Elite...hand painted park-bench green about 30 years ago. It's the one I wanted to take home!

And finally, a BRM Elan restored to perfection...the pics don't do it justice at all.

You clearly had a busy day of it Mark!! Love the blue plus 2, any idea what the shade is? Also the 4 spoke revolutions on the red one look classy IMHO

I think I had a better day than you did, reading your recent post! The colour is L02 - French Blue, and I agree, looks fab on early Elans and Plus 2 cars.

I recently acquired a set of the knock-on Revolutions for my BDA Plus 2...beware, if you buy a set, they come with spin-on adaptors to clear the suspension. If they don't have the adaptors, they won't fit. They are 6 x 14 inch and I agree there as well...the only other wheel to have!!

Looks like you had good weather 8) We were totally washed out at home, it did not stop raining all day. Did it stay dry for you?

Mark,

Thanks for all of the pictures.
I have a passion for Elites.
The picture of the "park bench green" Elite doesn't do it full justice though.
Do you run a dogs home
One great big pile of work needed there.
Aaah. Maybe one day.
The Elan S3 BRM was nice to say the least. How many of those were made?

John

Great photos loved the patina on the green Elite looks well used also liked the black with gold stripe car which looked to be a Zetec one, always good to see a colourful collection of Elans and +2's

As far as the revolution wheels go are these still available new? and how will they effect the gearing been 14 inch

I stood and looked over that Elite for about 30 minutes imagining the swan inside the ugly duckling. You're right John, every nut and bolt, but what a project! And a big bill from Miles Wilkins to get the body sorted I'm sure. But I want it...badly  Yep, my place is rapidly becoming the home for neglected and unwanted Elans of all shapes and sizes. One or two mongrels, but mostly pedegree stuff! I could just squeeze an Elite in though.....

The Revolutions aren't available now, and neither are the adaptors. I found my set on eBay (of course) for a reasonable ?170. They had only been on a road car, and then only for a couple of years. They do come up from time to time, as quite a few Elans and Plus 2s had them in the 70s. I'm sure they will alter the gearing, depending on what tyres are used, but I haven't tried them on the road yet.

And there was no rain, but the heavy clouds just gave the right sort of filter to give a more 3d effect on the pictures...great light. And a really good day.

I wish I had gone to Coombe now!! The joys of hind sight!! I didn't realise the revs were 14s, that has put me off a bit, they still look the business IMHO, I feel that the 130 and minilites are a bit too bland/common if you see what I mean, the woolfies have a perverse 70's hairy chested/jacked up cortina appeal to them! I contacted Superlite about thier wheels by email, thier response to "are you able to supply 5 1/2" x 13" peg drive knock on rims to suit a 1970 Elan +2" was.. . . . . . .. "Yes", that was it, nothing else!!! Superlites are similar but subtley different to Minilites and I like them.

Black & gold car was a Zetec, as is the Pistachio Green one 8)

Good to see you Mark. I had to disappear early, so missed some of the action later on.
