Elans at Winton Historic Meeting 2007

A couple of shots of my Elan in the production sports car race and a very nice blue S2 in the sports racing car race.

Also for engine buffs - a shot of a Coventry Climax 2.5 litre V8 formula 1 engine in a Kieft front engined formula 1 car from the early 50's. The car and engine were never raced as it was thought they would be non competitive compared to the power outputs being claimed by Ferrari and Maserati at the time and both the car and engine projects abandoned. As it turned out they actually had more hp, as the Italians were stretching the truth a little. The car and 5 prototype engines had sat unused for many years and were finally brought together only a few years ago.

The Kieft is beautiful, such a shame they never got to try it out against the Italians.
I mustn't look to long at the race pictures of the Elans though, as I drove the +2 to work today, and always get a little bit too inspired for the drive home.....
