Lotus Elan and Lotus Elan Plus 2 Forums

Well there are not 60 plus elites in this photo but the folks around the New England area (Maryland to Toronto) made a good effort to get 9 Elites gathered together at Limerock to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Lotus Elite. There were many folks on hand to enjoy the company and weather (76 to 78 degrees, not a cloud in the sky) . Lots of faces were put with names that had only been seen in print on the internet and a few laughs were had by all. Although only 9 showed up, owners that did not bring Elites but attended had another 10 by my count and possibly more.

It made me think about how many Elites / Elans went to the East Coast vs the West coast...any ideas? I always figured that California ended up with most of them, but that was probably the Bob Challman adverts talking to me.

Any idea what happend to Club Elite North America? They used to have an interesting web site, but that seems to have disappeared. I'm sure you know about it, but for others who may be interested, Dennis Ortenburger is producing a quarterly newsletter which is superb, and well worth a read. It's on subscription from:

I see Gary is Johnny-on-the-Spot and posted first. I'll add one of my own plus another of Clark Lance's Elan heading out on the Monday morning warm-up session. Clark organized our Elite gathering and did a fine job. The US Club Elite is alive and doing very well thanks to the efforts of Greg Paris and Mike Ostrov. Greg has been publishing an excellent electronic newsletter for over a year now. You can reach Greg at [email protected].

I've got to support John's comments here.
It's just not fair of you to post so many pictures of these super little cars on our forum.
I picked up a copy of the October issue of "Classiccar" at the Airport last friday & decided to buy it because it has an article "Inside the Elite", several pages long & quite well put together.
It was later on at home on Friday evening that I realised the featured car VJB 917 once used to belong to me.
If only still had it.
Now stop upsetting us with your superp pictures please
By the way it spent some years together with you guys across the pond & apparently had some competition success there. It was seriously modified then.
Now it is back to "original", which it probably never was, being prototype No.17 (P10017).
Never mind, the registration number hasn't changed

Just going through my hord of Lotus goodies and came across this advert for the Elan...which joins up with the Elite very nicely...in case anybody was wondering why we're talking Elites on an Elan forum
