For a rhd car which holes do I need on the left hand side? Two holes on the top left have grommets, so may have been used. Are any used for the wiring loom?

Cheers,

David, here are two shots of the cover on my lhd S3 Coupe, #5727.

Anybody know what the sticker / plate on the front of the cam cover says?

The original plate was made from "mill board", same material as is fitted in the boot. On an S4 I rebuilt the original one was just screwd in. see pic below, sorry about the quality

cheers
Mark

ps you need all of the holes :)

Hi guys, I have recently acquired a very early S2 down here in Australia, and am embarking on a full restoration (pity me....). It was originally imported from England in December 1964 (VIN 26/4193, body 3186, engine LP2625LBA, all original according to Lotus in England). I have a certificate to that effect from Andy Graham (great bloke!), but it doesn't tell me the original colour. Heavy sanding through at least three resprays clearly indicates it was Carmen Red, so that's what it's going to be again. But I really want to know whether the engine bay and boot interior should be body colour, gel coat colour (light grey?) or black.

Is there a definitive answer, or is it like my taillights (still S1) - whatever was to hand at the time it left the factory?

A supplementary if I may: do any of my Aussie colleagues know whether the early records of Geoghan's Pty Ltd (theLotus importers in the '60's) are still available for scrutiny? If yes, where?

Many thanks for your help in anticipation!
Terry

Hi Terry
Have you joined Club Lotus Australia? If so you should contact the Elan Registrar, Marc Schagen. He is our guru on all things Elan...
