Wander the Wineries March 23rd 2014 - NSW, Aus

PostPost by: Rozzer » Tue Mar 18, 2014 11:23 pm

For any members on here interested in getting the car out this weekend, we will have our first drive day of the year on Sunday.

We are heading north to the Hunter Valley, with a visit to a Club Lotus member's Cider Orchard and Press, followed by lunch at a local hostelry! Most members will then head off to their favourite winery to restock the cellar!

Plan is to leave Sydney CBD promptly at 8, picking up members along the way north.

In order to avoid the unnecessary interest of the (very efficient) NSW Tax Revenue Generators (otherwise known as the Highway Patrol), the exact route can be shared with you via email or PM, along with instructions for getting to the Cider Orchard and lunch. Drop me a line to ashton underscore roskill at mac dot com

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

Hi Alan
I could be smart and as a New Zealander would say - "they have to make it free in France to get anyone to taste it"

But yes the wine tasting in Australia is usually free at the wineries.

cheers

Well, looking out of the window today at the pouring rain I could be forgiven for thinking yesterday was a figment of my imagination! We had a beautiful day, with cool clear air all morning giving us a clean and spirited run up to Woolombi, a lovely coffee break at Peter's Cider orchard, lunch at the nearby Woolombi Tavern (among the bikes!) and a completely clear run back home down the Old Putty Road. Apart from having to stop once to put the roof on for a brief shower, we had hardly a moment's stop all day. More photos to come once I download from the camera, but here are a few as tasters from one of the Newcastle crew who joined us for lunch. Big thanks to Steve, Cliff, Evan and Gordon for bringing the Elans out to play - I did 300 miles without a hiccup :) Only problem is I think the dirt-roading might have clipped the exhaust, and it's now blowing a bit - oh well, a small price to pay!
Route is here for those who get map envy....https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit? ... BVeSCjtm4U
