Hi All,
Does anyone know of a supplier of UK registration plates with a dealer name inscribed/engraved at the bottom?
You can see from the attached photos the before and after effects of a visit to a garage - absolutely gutted...
Regards,
Peter

How on earth did someone manage to do that Peter ?

Anyway, back to the question. You can get plates made up with your personal message on them, and that would work. However in the UK these days the manufacturer also has to put information about who made them, which would spoil the effect by adding the modern standards, etc.

What you could try is someone who makes "show plates", not intended for road use but for people who want a period or special effect on their car when on display at a show. From what I've seen you can get pretty much anything you like made up then. And of course, as you would be going for a period look, you won't (or shouldn't) get any hassle at MoT time.

Your guess is as good as mine. I didn't notice until I got home - you can imagine the the telephone call I made. This isn't proving straightforward to find a like for like replacement. Thanks though for the show plate line of enquiry I will certainly give it a try.

Steve, I did contact Tippers and they replied "we may be able to add it as a transfer to the face of the plate, but we have not had any success in trying to place it "within" the plate, and we do not have the equipment to engrave anything that small" which was the message I got from all the other suppliers I approached. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Regards,

Peter

Hi Peter,
I contacted Tippers and got a similar response. The annoying point about it is that up until a year back they were producing the engraved dealer personalised plate. I was put in touch with them by somebody who had a plate done exactly as I would like.

Please do update if you find a supplier.

Adrian.

Perhaps if you get a plate made in the normal fashion and then take it to someone who specialises in etching /engraving ??

I think you were very lucky that it was the number plate and not the bodywork

Peter,

I've tried:

Classic Plates Online,
Chestnut Registrations.

Both can't do what we are after either!

I suggest you put the front plate at the back and fit letters in grill at front.

Alan - Getting an engraved plate is fairly easy find, it's the additional 'Dealer' name engraving that is proving difficult/impossible to replace.

Peter - what dimensions is the plate, I don't think it is standard, however one of the companies that I contacted could supply an oversized plate.

I'm starting think that the Tippers 'decal' plate might be the closest that we can get?

So can you not just take a normal plate to an engraver / jeweller ?

just a thought......
have you thought about going to see your local trophy engraver?.....

I guess so, mirror engrave and then silver paint it. Shall have to investigate. There is probably quite a market for this now I would imagine!

also another thought.......
I'm guessing it doesn't matter how much it costs as they will be paying for it!!!
or are they denying it had anything to do with them.......
surely its up to them to replace as it was..........originality is what its all about
