Thanks everyone for the kind words. There's still LOTS of work to be done, and the first drive will require more than just sticking a seat in. But this turns the 'so close' thoughts from theory to reality. Once I get a few things sorted with the engine's systems then it really is just a matter of details! :D

Congratulations Ben! The "To do" list is much shorter than just a couple of months ago. Can't wait to watch a video of you driving through some of the lovely countryside where you live. There are some great Lotus driving roads north of Atlanta.

Oh yes, there's nothing quite like it!

Happy New Year, Ben, and enjoy that feeling. Everyone else too.

My S3 is always in hibernation or having something fixed / modified / refurbished this time of year. However a warm dry December?s day tempted me to get the battery off the conditioner and covered 150 miles around N Wales today 8)

Well, not to my Lotus but for my Lotus - picked up a stablemate so the Elan wouldn't be lonely. A RHD 1965 Eleven S2 with a Cosworth 1500 engine that spent most of its life in Australia before going back to the UK a few years ago. This is my first Seven, will be looking for others with Sevens willing to trade notes and share experience.

Very cool! That's a good-looking Seven, looks like a lot of fun and reminds me of how much I wish that I could fit in the things.

There is a heritage register of the Lotus 7 Club run by Rod Thonger which would be a useful resource for you.

Fitted a new gaiter round my gear lever; made from spare material when Don Hoods made my tonneau cover some years ago. The cone of material is glued to the remains of the original rubber gaiter.

After all these years, 14 to be exact, I finally got around to replacing the DCOE-24 carbs with a freshly rebuilt pair of DCOE-18's on the S2. Fresh carbs do make a difference. The difference in the locations of the progression holes seems to have take care of the usual flat spot. A quick blast up to C&C in San Clemente this morning had me smiling in both directions. Now back to playing with Keith's latest version of his emulsion tubes.
