factory paint method

At about 00:58 in there are brief scenes of I think a Plus 2 and a Europa in primer. But most of the exterior hardware is installed on color painted areas. Does this mean the factory would spot color some places for continued assembly and then paint the main color last, with all the equipment installed?

And then, just what would "concourse" mean today?

I think I have read that what looks like grey primer is actually a protective wax. The areas around the brightwork were cleaned off prior to the said items being fitted.

As for your other question
concourse
/?k??k??s/Submit
noun
1.
a large open area inside or in front of a public building.
"a station concourse"
synonyms: entrance, foyer, lobby, hall; More
2.
FORMAL
a crowd or assembly of people.
"a vast concourse of onlookers"
Kindest regards

First time i watched it i thought they edging the colour but when you watch it back there are areas for example around the headlights and inside the heater vent ducts that are grey (if it was edged they did a poor job of it) they also have the grey stuff all over the engine bay black you see when fitting the engine to the red car, which would tend to imply it washed off.... Interesting it's not on all the cars on the production line in colour though.

The one thing i took from that film was inside the arches were painted.

Mike Spence (and other dealerships) received many Elans un-painted, for them to finish.

Pete, Does that mean they were painted in custom colours? or did they just feel they could achieve a better finish?

Northern Sports Cars would paint factory painted cars any colour the customer wanted to make the sale. I imagine the resultant paint finish was awful, but people didn't seem to be that fussy back then.

After failing to find a buyer for the business in the 80's, the site was bought by the local council whom leveled the garage and incorporated it into a recreational area...why was I not surprised?
