Great to see a small handful of Elans at Brooklands yesterday.
A fantastic turnout of vehicles with a few rare gems, an excellent day out. Looking forward to Bicester on Sunday.

Brooklands really was an excellent day. We were in the Yellow S4 coupe. I think Paddy's lovely S1 was a short distance behind us in the entry queue. A pristine pistachio coupe put my grubby S4 (untouched since returning from a 2000 mile french rally - the Autumn Sun Run) to shame. There were a few others - all looking lovely.

I also saw my first Evante since Berlin in around '86. Up for grabs at ?17.5K and with most of the better know Elan weaknesses sorted. The Vegantune head is belt driven and has a serviceable water pump and the interior is very smart. Lots of other improvements that would have been incorporated into the Elan if it had continued in production including a 5-speed Type 9 'box and solid drive shafts. Even the doors fit! Low mileage (30K?) and looking good.

But it ain't an Elan...

I parked at the far RH end of the banking, pretty steep. A Rolls Royce had, for some reason, rolled down the banking and hit an MGB GT before hitting a wall. Shame - significant damage to both cars. And a surprise for one, or both owners, when they returned to their cars...

Stunning cars - a 365 GTB, DB 4,5,6, many beautiful pre-war cars, hot-rods, rally cars - something for everyone.

Thanks to pharriso for his helpful post.
Does anyone have any photos? I'm rather tempted by an early Evante.
