I cannot imagine that these big clunky fixtures were used daily

feels to me more like proof of compliance for new molds or' WTF is wrong with this body' fixtures

well spotted, I was only looking at the trunk. Rather than glass it looks to me like the rest of the gelcoat of an hardtop without cutouts - yet exactly how it would be used remains unclear to me.

Rain guters and windshield gasket holders are thinner than the rest of the body, which is which I thought of a separate operation. Also the areas behing the bumpers is not single mould and has a junction line into them (and poor surface finish).

this photo in particular made me think that the rain gutter or other small concave ends may have been glassed on the assembled body

The difficulty my body guy has had getting a light weight LHS door and light weight boot lid to fit the openings (brand new parts) makes me wonder if these jigs could have been used to insure body opening shapes. My boot lid, for instance, lay four corners on a flat surface, but rocked in the shell opening.
