Lotus Elan and Lotus Elan Plus 2 Forums

Yesterday I travelled from the Surrey/Kent border to deepest, darkest Devon to view the barn find plus 2 I've been chasing for some time now. The current owner had swept the barn so I could access around the car. We spent a couple of hours going over the car, looked through several boxes of parts stored in two different barns before making the decision. A deal was done and I'm now the proud owner of a collection of parts that will someday be back on the roads as a 1973 Elan +2S 130/4.

Before collecting the kit of parts I need to source a plus 2 wheel, the car only has 3, does anyone have a spare one please? Until I have one I can't think about collecting it.

What sort of +2 wheel are you looking for Andy? Are you looking to match the 3 that you have just bought, or will any old +2 wheel do you, to get you rolling?

I have one of those weird steel part chromed +2 wheels that I would part with, if that is of any use. It has a tyre fitted to it.

Ideally I'd like it to match so I can refurbish them as a set. It has standard plus 2 steel wheels which I'd like to keep.

I can't picture what your wheel looks like. If there are no standard ones forthcoming yours would be great so I can get the car home.

The steel wheels with the rim chromed are the same as a standard steel wheel.
At least you an collect the car and you will need a spare later
You can always sand blast the chrome if it is rusty then paint.
+2 wheels are painted only, +2S are painted with the rim chromed

Surly if a 73 S130 isn't on alloy's, it would be on the chrome rim steels mentioned ? The all painted steels were only fitted to the pre 'S' +2's, weren't they ?
