PostPost by: fillpoke » Sun Oct 01, 2017 10:26 am

Hi Everyone, just wondering if anyone knows MAR133H, a 1969 white +2S which i'm thinking about buying? Unfortunately I'll have to do this unseen, as I'm unable to get to view it, hence this request. Thanks for any help, Dave

I've also been looking at this car and have spoken to the owner at length. He seems a very nice man.

it sounds as though it has not been used for a long time and there will be issues getting it reliable again. its been restored some twenty years ago and I think it will need refreshing! It is relatively cheap, but what will you need to spend to get it reliable again! I'm in two minds. my wife says i should buy a better one as I have enough projects!
I see we are not too far away from each other. Sorry just to add, I've not seen the car in the flesh, the information was gained in a telephone call.

Look to be a nice complete original car.

Plus 2's are still seriously good value IMO when you look at other classics

Mk1 Minis have gone crazy - I'm lucky enough to have one of those too but they are primitive in comparison

Thanks very much guys for all the replies, which are helpful indeed. Alan, I know exactly what you mean as I'm in two minds also. I have other projects on the go and I'm not sure if I should risk this or not. If only it was in the North East as we are.....

I have a number of Mini based kit cars, can't cope with rust on a normal Mini. Fiberglass is the way to go. That's why I'm interested in a Plus 2.

We missed a good one in Darlington yesterday. It was an abandoned project, the owner had died. Lots of work done to the car, but not finished. It was a black 130/5, I dismissed it at first , thought about it and was going to ring up and view the car. But it had been removed from EBay. I wonder if someone on this forum bought it?

Yes please, I come to Carlisle every weekend to take my mother out, as I'm from Carlisle originally. I'm assuming you can PM me a phone number on this site.

Thanks Tim for going to the trouble of finding this information, I was thinking as I was reading it and thinking there is no hiding place now, in these days of IT! Which is a good thing.
