Moaning about YouTube

Sorry, general whinge here.

There is a real lack of decent videos about the Plus 2 on YouToob. Quite a few walkrounds, drives and selling videos, but little of any real interest. Have I missed something, I wonder?

What is it that you would like to see in a Plus 2 video? You could always make this video yourself as a service to those in future who will have the same complaint.

I knew someone would say that.

Truth is, I'm really bad at it. Fumbled lines, monotone voice, crappy shots. I might try though, just for a laugh...

I may have to give it a go myself once I get the car back on the road. I know nothing of making and editing video, but I've been told that I have a voice that would be great on radio.

But again the question arises: what should the content be?

Well you could use the superb Jay Leno's Elan video as a yardstick.. :D

The two examples stand out due to high production values. You have flybys. Action shots and some great quality ,well framed shots.

I am envious of the quality. There is a lovely mga coupe video on the toob which I aim to emulate...

What I need is some buddies with drones....

Yes, high production values and video editing skills, neither of which I have. :D

I'm told I have a face ideal for radio. Same thing isn't it?

If you're bored you can always watch some of my video's not anywhere near the production quality of the others but I'm having fun trying.

Plus I have a drone so watch out for some drone footage coming soon - I must say the production quality of the NZ and the Petrolicious video's are top class - it got me into a whole new world of checking out how to improve video/cinematography/photography and Im still trying to get out of that rabbit hole so I can make some more vids.

So come join me and make video's on one of the most under appreciated car so that the rest of the world can see them.

The below is a link to my "best" video - filmed on a couple of go-pro's and using an apple mac with i-movie.

Its harder than you think and takes ages - but I must say it is very enjoyable.

Cheers

Just in case you haven't seen it - and it's not about the Elan - watch 'Project Binky' on YouTube.

It's quite funny, but the quality of fabrication and engineering is amazing, as they squeeze a Celica engine and running gear into a Mini City...

It's addictive viewing...

FWIW, here's a crappy video I made shortly after acquiring my Plus 2. I'd managed to get the engine poorly running, and ran it for about twenty minutes including a 1/8 mile drive up and down my street, before tearing everything apart. I hope to be back on the road this summer and more videos will follow if I remember to make them.

I'm not known for creativity and I won't attempt a video but here's one that's simple and keeps your attention.
I don't know who's controlling the drone.

Hi Veg

I saw that when I did my original search for videos about the Plus 2. Love the maniacal laughter... :D

The drone footage of the Shelby Cobra is more like what I had in mind, though I doubt I will manage it with my drone as it is one of these https://www.parrot.com/uk/minidrones/pa ... rgo-travis - a fun toy my mum sent me for my 53rd birthday.

Apart from the filming itself, I have been wondering about the music. The Cobra video is using copyrighted music ("Where the streets have no name" by U2) which I doubt they have licensed properly. I'm surprised YouTube's algorithms haven't spotted it. But anyway, you can see that choosing the right music is yet another thorny problem to be overcome.

Cheers
