If you know someone who repairs clocks then Horolene is excellent for brass or steel parts. Soaked overnight and they are good as new.
It is too expensive for a one off job. Well, it would be for me !

Try vinegar (or anything else) on a piece of scrap brass before risking your carb parts. You can buy new emulsion tubes but it would be a shame to wreck them.

Vinegar is great on steel.
I soaked an old carburettor for a Hillman Minx and it pretty much disolved it.
I would not risk any parts of your carbs to vinegar.
I sent mine away to be ultra sonically cleaned and overhauled.
I'm pretty sure I had the recommendation from someone here on the forum. I must have done it about three or four years ago now, the cost was very reasonable and they look as good as new today as they did when I got them back from the refurbisher.
It may take me some time, but I will try and dig his contact details out for you.

Drop them in a gallon of cellulose thinners and leave for a week. Then re-grease the bearings work better than most methods.
