Crank Trigger Wheel And Pick Up Sensor

PostPost by: brian wilson » Tue Jul 13, 2004 2:20 am

Does anyone know where a trigger wheel and sensor pick up can be purchased for a twin cam to do away with the distributor? Also coil on plug units that will fit?

I have a fuel injection system that can cope with the ignition , so just need the above

QED sells such a crank-triggered ignition system for the Twin Cam. See:
<a href='http://www.qednet.demon.co.uk/tc/ignmanage.htm' target='_blank'>http://www.qednet.demon.co.uk/tc/ignmanage.htm</a>

Their system is a nice adaptation of a DTA system. See:
<a href='http://www.dtafast.co.uk/' target='_blank'>http://www.dtafast.co.uk/</a>

Most DTA systems manage both Fuel Injection and Ignition, but the QED version employs just the ignition side of DTA's package.

The idea is very appealing. The biggest problem I see is cost. $$$$$$ when done one car at a time. Probably cost Ford next to nothing to put a similar system into a million Mondeos. Mass production!

Electromotive makes crank triggered systems/components. I have an HPV-1 system on my Ferrari 308 that has been bullet proof for 4-years. I don't know if it is compatible with what you have though. See:

That is an amazing price :o I looked at a similar set up and it was ?500 just for the ECU before throttle bodies, injectors, loom etc....

Where did you buy a complete set up for such a good price?
