Thinking of selling my Plus 2

PostPost by: jono » Thu Aug 22, 2019 6:31 am

Hi Mark,

Viewing an Evora this weekend, if it checks out as described it's likely I will buy it (when I make a decision I like to get on with it 8) )

I think you're right about my old Elan BTW - and you should see your old JPS now, looks superb!

Dave, I think you may have bought one of the best sorted Elans on the market, and it looks gorgeous as well!
When is the new Lotus arriving Jon?

Mark

Thanks Mark, I believe so :D

So to conclude the original post, I bought this and it's bloody brilliant :D

And amazingly I've discovered (totally by accident when surfing You Tube) that my new car is the star of this documentary produced by National Geographic about the design and launch of the Evora

That looks gorgeous Jon, and the perfect colour. Didn't you have one when you came down to talk Elans a few years back David?

I did indeed Mark, an Evora 400 . Also had an Orange S1. Must admit the yellow looks stunning and have a real soft spot for Evoras. They are epic cars.

Now I'm confused!
Jon has sold a Plus2 to David and bought an Evora but David used to have an Evora before he bought the Plus2 :D

The only solution is to have both I think!

A quick update after a few months of Evora ownership - what a car, so, so, competent!

...but it's not as much fun and nor does it provide the same sense of occasion as driving my old Plus 2.

I'm kind of missing her but not missing the maintenance!

I've a feeling I will be back in a Plus 2 at some point in the future :D

That's an unusual colour for a Phase 1 Vee David, or is it the light that's giving it a blue glow?!

It used to be known as Kermit, but looks a lot better back in it's original colour. It did stand out driving down the road though!

wow, what an interesting post, especially the one where the "jono", the ex-owner of a beautiful plus 2 regrets the sale after buying a new Lotus sports car.

Interesting topic and I can so relate to this story. I love my classic cars, and my favorite period is mid-fifties to mid to late sixties cars. Purely because they are very basic and you get so much instant feedback.

I admire modern cars and my brother has a series elise which he lets me drive occasionally. Amazing car and although I could be tempted I prefer a more primitive car like my plus 2 or my Alfa giulietta spider.

My father still drives his Lancia fulvia sport at nearly 80 so it can be done.

Of course to some degree it depends where you live ( the roads, the population density, climate etc)

I live in New Zealand so my cars are perfect for these kind of windy, hilly and relatively quiet roads.
A speed limit of 100km/h also means that driving any modern car feels boring , in contrary to my fossils :D

At some stage I have to sell something myself, and that will not be easy. my general advice is keep the car you like using, the car that you instantly feel comfortable in. The car that makes you happy and gives you the fuzzies!!

cheers Robin
